TDBC Day 28: Favorite Books
My original copy of These Happy Golden Years and my Laura Ingalls doll by Madame AlexanderI have loved books ever since I was a little girl. My favorite night of the week was when the bookmobile came. I could hardly wait to get there and start choosing the books that I wanted to take home. I would check out an armload of chapter books, and usually finished them all before the bookmobile came back two weeks later.
My 4th grade teacher Mrs. Goodrich, introduced me to the "Little House" books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I was instantly in love with those books. She intended to read the entire series to our class before the end of the school year. She asked us not to read the books on our own, but I disobeyed; I couldn't wait that long, I finished them all long before the end of the school year, and still enjoyed listening to my teacher read them to the class.
For Christmas in 1970 my parents gave me a hardcover copy of These Happy Golden Years. I was thrilled to own a copy of a book that I loved so much. Inside they wrote these words:
For Lesley Ann, after much persuasion and coaxing on her part.
From Mom and Dad xxx
Christmas 1970.
In recent years I have purchased the entire series in hardcover, including a second copy of These Happy Golden Years (I had to have a matched set). When Caitlin was in elementary school,
she and I read the entire series together in less than two years. I loved sharing those books with her. As we finished each book, we signed our names and the date in the back (and in one book, a few drops of blood from my dry, cracked, winter hands as I was signing). I hope someday that Caitlin has a daughter, and that they will read the books together also.Leave a comment if you have read the "Little House" books. Do you love them!?!

TDBC Day 27: What's In Your Purse
The creator of this "30 Day Blog Challenge" was really stretching things here; does anybody really care about what's in my purse? But I will tell you anyway...
I have a cute little red wallet
I have receipts waiting to be recorded in my checkbook register before I shred them
I have an assortment of cards (gift cards, punchcards, ins. cards, 1 credit card, 1 debit card, and a few others)
A gold pen that belongs to Margie; she loaned it to me at the Christmas party and I forgot to give it back, so I put it in my purse so I could give it to her when I saw her next, I've seen her several times... I keep forgetting to give it to her, sorry Marge
Orange tic tacs
Lotion
Gum
Cloth and cleaner for my glasses
A succor from the credit union (I don't know why that is there, I must've thought it would come in handy for one of the grandkids)
A key to Mike's car
A pink pen
Cash
Two gold dollars
Cold/allergy meds
Jr. Mint chapstick
Something interesting: I never keep my cell phone or my keys in my purse. Does everybody else?

TDBC Day 26: Favorite Music/Artists
I love all kinds of music; but for this post I'm going to say my favorite music is Christmas music. Coming from a family that is considered musically inclined, you might be very surprised to find out that I rarely listen to music in my car or at home, and I.LOVE.MUSIC (but I also love the quiet when I'm home alone or in the car). Anyway... at Christmastime I listen to music constantly. This past year I started listening to Christmas music as soon as the radio stations started to play it shortly after Halloween. That used to bug me, but not any more. Sorry if it bugs you.
I played it at work and when I wasn't in the room my co-workers changed the station. When I noticed what they had done I would say, "hey... what station are we listening to?" and one of them would say to the others, "uh-oh, she noticed." Then the station went right back on to the Christmas music. Sometimes it is a real benefit to be the boss :-)
My favorite artists? I pretty much covered that on yesterday's post (although I failed to mention Neil Diamond, how can I forget Neil? he's the best!!! I've lost track of how many times I've seen him in concert).
What music do you like? And what is your rule about when to start Christmas music?

TDBC Day 25: Put Your Ipod On Shuffle and List The First Ten Songs
I don't like to put my ipod on shuffle... it's a pain, I always have to wait until I can get Caitlin to un-shuffle it for me. So... if I were to put my ipod on shuffle here are ten of the artists/musicals that you might hear: Carpenters, Eagles, Abba, Wicked, Secret Garden, Tabernacle Choir, Celtic Woman, Michael Buble, and if you are really lucky, the Osmonds or the Partridge Family.
And I haven't even included any of my Christmas choices on that list.
