This post will be short and to the point.

Another shout-out for Endless Summer... they will be playing at the Davis County Fair tonight from 6-8:30.
It will be fun and it's FREE!!!

Blogging for 31 days can be fun, but I'm starting to run out of ideas... maybe tomorrow I'll post about laundry, unless any of you have some suggestions.

Day 3: Endless Summer at the Park

It has been an endless summer for the Endless Summer Band. They have been busy-little-banders this season; and if you haven't had the opportunity to hear them perform... you can catch them tonight at 7 pm at the Bountiful City Park (it's free). They will be performing on the stage on the corner of 4th North and 2nd West. If you can't make that one, next week they perform at Midvale Harvest Days and then at another event in Murray. On August 18 they will be headlining at the Davis County Fair, and then on September 10 they will be back at the Bountiful City Park as part of Murphy's Guitars summer concert series (another free event).

(1/2) Marathon Man

Here is a man who participated in a golf tournament in Billings, Montana on Friday; he arrived home at 11:30 pm that night only to get up at 3:15 am Saturday to travel to American Fork where he was in a half marathon which he finished at 9:07 am. This picture was taken after he crossed the finish line.

He arrived home at 10:25 am (I was with him) and had 10 minutes to shower and get ready before his fellow band members picked him up and he headed to Ogden where they performed for a couple of hours. After the Ogden show they headed to Clinton where they performed at the grand opening of Tonyburgers for a couple more hours. He is singing to me in this picture. He got home about 8:30-ish and is currently... snoring sleeping peacefully.

Just for fun

Summer Concert and New Hobby #1 Update

Last night was Endless Summer's concert in the park and WOW! what a great turn out. The west end of the park was filled with lawn chairs, blankets and people. I don't think anyone went away disappointed. It was a fabulous performance.

Adam, Zach and Will got in on the performance again with Tambourine Man.

Here is just some of the crowd with a few of our Endless Summer "family" in the foreground.

Alex, Alana and Bob; our cousins.

Tiffany and Mike; our friends.

Andy singing Long, Cool Woman and introducing the band members.

I don't have any pictures of my
new hobby yet; but I'm happy to report that I reached my Labor Day goal today... a week early.

Sometimes I Wish It Was An Endless Summer....

We started out the summer in the best way; a trip to the beach house. While we were there some of our family members went to a Dodgers game, some golfed, some shopped, some had mani's or pedi's, two were rescued by Baywatch (both separate occurrences) while we swam at San Clemente, some went to the movies, some ate dinner on the pier, some went whale watching, some visited the San Diego temple, almost everyone went to Disneyland....and we all had a great time!

We went to youth conference at the Manti Pageant....

We went to parades, BBQ's, and fireworks....

Endless Summer has been busy all summer long; they will be doing a free concert at the Bountiful City Park on Friday evening, August 14....

Caitlin and I went to stake girls camp....

Caitlin performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat....

We went to Cherry Hill....

The biggest event is yet to come as we close on our new house on August 31....and then we MOVE!!!

There are just two weeks until school starts, summer isn't over yet and our calendar is beginning to fill up for the fall. You know what I'd really, really like to do....go back to the beach!!!

Endless Summer Brings Beatles, Beach Boys To W.B.

This is a story from yesterday's Davis County Clipper

THE MEMBERS of Endless Summer during a recent local concert.
Jenniffer Wardell 09.OCT.08
WEST BOUNTIFUL — This time of year, it takes music to give people one last taste of summer.Endless Summer, a Beatles and Beach Boys tribute band that has played at several local events, will now be taking the stage for a free concert on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the West Bountiful City Hall (550 N. 800 West). The performance, which is part of the city art council’s free monthly concert series, will feature a more acoustic, “unplugged” sound on several well-known classics.

“We’ll slow down some of their more driving songs a little and change some of the artistic bits,” said Mike Leger, a member of the group. “That way, it won’t blow out anybody’s eardrums, but it’ll still be fun for the whole family.”

Though the concert will feature numbers from other performers — Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man” will be on the list — the heart of the music will center around the Beach Boys and the Beatles. Numbers such as “Surfer Girl,” “Hawaii,” “Help,” and “This Boy” will all definitely be making an appearance.

“In ‘Hawaii,’ we take the drums out and replace them with conga drums,” said Leger. “It’s probably my favorite Beach Boys song.”

The group, which also includes Doug Vandegrift, Kevin Stevenson, Andy Leger and Brandon Williams, have been playing together in their current incarnation for more than five years.

“We started out as a group called the Cavern Club, and we just played Beatles music,” said Leger. “Then we decided to expand a little, and ended up doing an informal survey for another well-known band from that era.

“Everyone we talked to said they loved the Beach Boys.”

It’s that connection to the music that keeps the group playing, and will hopefully keep people dancing in the aisles.

“Everyone from small children to older adults love these songs,” said Leger. “They never go out of style.”

Camping and Trekking; It's Gonna Be An Endless Summer

The last two weeks in June were extremely busy. It seems like that is the way it goes sometimes, a bunch of stuff all at the same time and then we have nothing to do (although looking ahead at the July calander it's looking pretty busy too). We started out with ward girl's camp in Ogden Canyon. I'm second counselor in my ward YW's presidency so I get to go to camp with Caitlin. We were gone four days and three cold nights. But it was a great experience and we all enjoyed ourselves. Mike came for one day and night as a Priesthood leader and it was fun having him there too.
As soon as we got home from camp we were rushing to get Caitlin ready for pioneer trek (a re-enactment of the Mormon pioneers who pulled handcarts across the plains). I was busily sewing her pioneer clothes every night after work and I think she looked pretty cute in them. She was a bit apprehensive about going but was determined that she would do it. She left on Thursday morning the 26th and got home on Saturday night. Friday night Mike and I went up to trek so that Mike could help out with the music while the trekkers square danced. She was happy to see us but was quite busy with her trek "family". She was a happy camper, I mean trekker.
There were about 17 "families" on trek, this is Caitlin's trek "family" (Caitlin is on the back row wearing black)

On Saturday our week ended with West Bountiful's 4th of July celebration. Yes, we celebrated the 4th of July on June 28th. Endless Summer has become West Bountiful's favorite hometown band. Hundreds gathered at the city park for the concert which was followed by fireworks. It was a great celebration!!

Endless Summer

We were over at my Mom's tonight when we saw this picture on the computer slide show. I asked her to forward it to me so that I could post it. This is Endless Summer performing at my neice Melissa's wedding in 2006. The scenery in the picture goes so perfect with the bands name. These guys are really great!! I'm particularly fond of the one in the black shirt (with the white guitar) and the one in the green shirt (at the keyboard). The group is getting better all the time.
